Learn How to Play the Drums

The drum is an instrument you can learn relatively quickly if your goal is to play for fun as part of a hobby or stress relief. On the other hand, if your goal is to archive complete mastery, you need the help of well-structured drum lessons. Our drum lessons are combined with our rock band programs to keep the students motivated and engaged in their drum lessons.

General Questions

The characteristics of our drum lessons are the following:

  • Students apply the music theory in songs that the students like. This helps faster learnings.
  • Drum instructors create different versions of the songs in order to match the students' pace. This allows the students to be able to play songs, no matter the difficulty of the original song.
  • Our well-structured drum lessons help the students master sigh reading in a dynamic and fun way.

While every child is different, it's generally a good idea to wait until your child is at least five years old before starting drum lessons. These are the main factors to consider:

  • Motivation: If your child is the one expressing a strong interest in the drums, it will help overcome the difficulties that will arrive while taking drum lessons with the instructor.
  • Physical development: Before beginning drum lessons, we need to make sure your child have enough strength and coordination to hold drum sticks.
  • Attention span: Many young children struggle to pay attention for long periods of time, especially when it comes to new, challenging tasks. We recommend starting young students with shorter lessons (30-minutes) and increasing the lesson time as your child's skills and passion grow.

The students come to our drum lessons once a week for a 30-minute private session. We are open during the following days:

  • Mondays to Fridays, from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
  • Saturdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Every show we have 18 bands
  • Sundays: Exact availabilities vary by school location. Please ask your local PY Rock location for details.

DRUM LESSONS FOR BEGINNERS

ALL AGES

We have a fresh approach to drum lessons. We have a comprehensive step-by-step drum lessons curriculum that provides drummers a solid foundation of independence, technique, and music theory. Our highly trained drum instructors work first on holding the drumstick correctly, choosing the right ones, and heels-up and heels-down methods.

INTERMEDIATE DRUM LESSONS

ALL AGES

If you don't feel the beginner drum lessons are for you because you've been playing drums for a while, and you want to get better? Then our intermediate drum lessons are for you. Drum instructors go deeper into techniques, independence, reading rhythmic notation, and playing fills. We highly recommend paring the private drum lessons with a rock band program to experience the stage and apply all knowledge into real music contexts.




Drums lessons for advanced players

ADVANCED DRUM LESSONS

ALL AGES

Our drum instructors assume the students already mastered reading basis rhythmic notation including quarter notes, eighth notes, triplets, and sixteenth notes. Though drum lessons focus on mastering time and groove using metronomes and advance coordination, the students experience higher levels of playing and performing. Paring these drum lessons with a season rock program is the best option for an advanced drum player.

We've developed a well-thought-out drum lesson plan for kids that focus on motivating the kids to learn and practice. Our expert drum instructors make the students walk away from the lesson energized, feeling good and looking forward to more drum lessons! Based on the student's skill level, l, PY Rock's drum program includes private lessons and live performance programs.

Students who enroll in our drum lessons enjoy a fresh approach to drumming. Every program for teens includes private lessons and band rehearsals. Our drum instructors focus on every detail, from gripping the sticks properly to learning the essential rudiments. Our drum lesson program designed for teens focuses on providing a solid foundation for successful drumming skills.

It's never too late to learn drums! PY Rock drum lessons designed for adults will take you through a song-oriented approach to drumming, where you will play your favorite song right from the first day. Most of our drum instructors are multi-instrumentalists, and many have toured the world playing music, which makes every session filled with experience sharing, and motivation for the adult students. Based on the student's level, every program includes private drum lessons and band rehearsals.
